SISHK Celebrates Library Week
by Mr Andrew Douglas, Head of Department for English (Primary)
SISHK students celebrated their love of a good book with the annual Library Week celebrations, held this year from Monday-Friday, 12-16 March. Students created book recommendation displays which were on show in the plaza, participated in book quizzes and enjoyed visits from Chinese and English-speaking authors. They also had fun dressing up as their favourite characters on Book Character Dress Up Day. Prizes were given to the best-dressed classes and also to the English classes who had read the greatest number of books under the English department’s “Free Reading Programme”.
Library Week takes place each year to support the vibrant reading culture at SISHK.
Author Ritu Hemnani visited the school to read her book “Gope and Meera” to P3 and P4 students.
Each student completed a reading recommendation booklet, and these were then put up on boards around the plaza so students could see their friends’ tips on books they had enjoyed.
SISHK students from different levels enjoy Dress Character Dress Up Day.
