We Did It Again! Champions of the UNESCO Hong Kong Debate Tournament! 
Congratulations to our incredible SISHK Debate Team for clinching the title of Champions at the UNESCO Hong Kong Debate Tournament 2024 (Senior Primary Division) held at City U University! 
Their dedication, skills, and hard work paid off, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievement. Well done, Kalie LIU, Sophia Zhu, Quentin Leung and Carolyn Xu!
At the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals English Debate, SISHK dominated the International Schools’ Division, coming in 1st in the Senior Division and 1st and 2nd in the Junior Division. For many of the students involved, this was their first-ever debate competition! Go Lions!
Mr. and Ms. Wally, our Secondary English teachers, together with our students, celebrated World Book Day. They immersed themselves in a range of engaging activities, including the delightfully quirky “AbSuRd ReAdinG!” experience and showcasing their creativity by dressing up as their favourite book characters. They also enjoyed a bracelet-making activity and participated in the spirited competition of “Humanagram,” which added an element of teamwork and fun to the celebration. The event fostered a deep appreciation for literature.
AY2223 saw the return of live debates in Hong Kong after a 3-year hiatus due to Covid-19. After several years of coming runner-up in the online digital version of the tournament where students submitted video recordings of their debate speeches, the SISHK Debate team were eager to assert themselves on the live debate scene. This year SISHK entered a record breaking 28 students in the Hong Kong Young Writers Competition which is spearheaded by the well-renowned Hong Kong journalist, Nury Vittachi. Of the 1000 plus entries that were submitted by students across Hong Kong, 24 entries at upper primary level were shortlisted. Of the 24 shortlisted entries, eight students were SISHK students. We finished off the debate season by hosting the Grand Finals round (for International Schools) of the UNESCO United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Debate on Friday 19th May. The motion was ‘A.I. will improve students’ education’, and our SISHK debate team achieved First Place as side Opposition.
