U14 Girls Basketball

I had a great experience as a member of the U14G basketball team this year. I think that our team did a good job overall and shared some enjoyable moments this season. Although most of us lacked skill and experience, we managed to work well together as a team and improve over the season as we were one point away from the semi-finals.  We spent a lot of time training together and got to know each other pretty well. We learnt to trust each other, knowing that our teammates had our back.

The most memorable match was indeed the last match against Victoria Shanghai Academy (VSA). During the start of the season, we had a friendly match against them and were 3 points away from victory. All of us knew this was going to be a close match and we were willing to put all our effort into it. In the first quarter, we scored the first points. We were very excited and glad about this lead despite making some mistakes. By the end of the 1st quarter, VSA caught up and the score was very close. In the second quarter, both teams played really well, but unfortunately VSA scored more points than we did. After the timeout, we changed our strategy and made a comeback in the 3rd quarter, beating VSA by just a bit. By the end of the fourth quarter, the score was 14-12. We had a 2 point lead. Everyone was exhausted, wishing that the game would just end with this exact score. But just in the nick of time, VSA got hold of the ball and scored 2 points. The whole team was struck with disappointment and by the end of the game, the score was tied. We rallied together and played hard to determine the winner in overtime.  In the end, our team lost by one point, but we were proud of the fight we put forth. We have made a huge improvement against VSA compared to last year where we lost to them by 20 points. This huge improvement was comforting for the team and overall, led to a memorable season.
