World Robot Olympiad 2021 – Hong Kong Robot Challenge

Despite the global pandemic, our students still keep their motivation to learn and welcome new challenges. In June 2021, three of our Primary 6 students participated in the Robot Challenge 2021 organised by the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Hong Kong. Our team “Robogeeks Trios” spent 4 intensive weeks exercising their creativity, resilience, teamwork and determination over the summer holiday to code, design and build 3 different robots.
We are proud of Evan Chan Yat Fung, Daniel Clement Lau and Brandon Daniel Saxvik-Ng who have won awards in 3 separate categories: Space Challenge – Silver award, New Sports Challenge – Silver award and Speed Challenge – Gold award.
For the Space Challenge, our students worked as aerospace scientists and engineers. They worked on the Challenge Mat, where they creatively applied their STEM knowledge and expand their problem-solving skills to complete 8 Space Challenge solutions within 2 minutes.
For the Speed Challenge, our students coded and built a EV3 Lego Robot that can trace the designated colour routes and simultaneously complete 6 different missions within 3 minutes.
For the New Sports Challenge, our students coded, designed and built a sophisticated robot that could store 8 curling stones and automatically slide stones towards the target area on the sliding sheet one by one.
Congratulations to the “Robogeeks Trios” team!
