Student Investiture AY1718

On 22 November 2017, more than 100 student leaders were invested to be official members of our student leadership groups for AY1718. Student leaders in SISHK hold great responsibility to be good role-models and are expected to be committed and reflective individuals who model risk-taking, caring and principled leadership to enhance the learning community whilst striving for a healthy balance in their own lives.

As experienced student leaders, Celine, Sarah and I stepped up to be in charge of planning the Student Investiture AY1718. This event started with a riveting performance by Iris Choi (S4R) and Melanie Wan (S4R), and introductory videos by the respective councils, a speech by our principal, Mr Pek, and a speech by Peter Lee on the house systems and experiences leading the house, certificates were given to students to recognize the individual student leaders. The event concluded with a candle-lighting ceremony, signifying the collective effort and work of each of the integral leadership groups. This means going beyond merely understanding the school’s values: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity, Care and Harmony, but also embedding them as a core foundation in our daily lives. After the event, parents, student leaders and student helpers of the event were invited to the reception for light snacks and also to take photos.

On behalf of the Student Investiture AY1718 planning team, we would like to thank everyone for their hard work and congratulate all the student leaders of AY1718. We look forward to welcoming and recognizing the student leaders again next year.
