My Prefect Election Experience
Ellisha Yao P5RT
In September, five hard-working and eager P5 prefects had been selected to canvass for the role of Vice-Head Prefect. It had always been a dream of mine to help the student body, and being chosen to share my vision was such a mix of joy and nervousness. I would dream of speaking in front of my fellow schoolmates and teachers trying to serve the school community. More than anything, I knew that it would require hard work and determination to make my dream a reality.
We had a daunting task ahead of us. We had to prepare speeches, posters, presentations, videos and most importantly, we knew everyone’s eyes were on us as we represented the Prefect Team. The Election was a tough one as students supported different candidates. This made me even more determined and filled me with the hunger to prove that I could do a good job.
Luckily, all five of us shared mutual respect. There was no hatred amongst us. I knew that if one of the other four students were elected, they would be an incredible Vice-Head Prefect. A few days before the Election, we all went to the L1 conference room for an interview with Mr Tay and Mr Ng. I had goosebumps as I walked into the room, but we all loosened up very soon and had a great chat. It was a fun session with the Principal and Vice Principal, nothing like I had pictured in mind.
I feel honoured and grateful to have been chosen as the Vice-Head Prefect. I would like to sincerely thank all the teachers and students who had supported me through my campaign. I will work hard to fulfil my duty and help the school become a better place for everyone.
