My Vision for SISHK

Hugo Healy P6RY
As a prefect, every year there are many highly anticipated events for us to organise for the student body. We always look forward to the Leadership Camp that helps us gain the skills needed to effectively lead others. We get to use our skills by holding events such as the Ice Cream Sale, Hot Chocolate Sale, Spirit Week, to name a few.
This year we had our leadership camp on 3rd September 2018. It was another successful and motivating event that helped us take the first steps in becoming leaders. We found out that not all leaders have different methods in solving problems.
During the leadership camp, we pondered what it takes to be a good leader. We looked at various different difficult scenarios and how we would tackle these challenges. It was insightful hearing from students from different grade levels with their different perspectives. The activity helped bond us through our shared interest in helping the school community.
After the Leadership Camp, we, the Senior Prefects had a campaign for Head and Vice-Head Prefect. The other excellent candidates also gave passionate presentations sharing their vision for the school. It made me realise our common goal of helping students have a better school life.
This year my goal and motto is that people should find their passion and just go for it. As the Head Prefect, I try my best to lead by example and portray all the qualities of a strong leader. Being able to socialise with all students and become a friendly face to everyone is important so that students can feel that they can approach me. I hope, by being the voice of the students, we can make the school a better place.
It was an honour to be elected as the Head Prefect of SIS(HK) this year. I have been here for 8 years since kindergarten and would definitely say that SIS(HK) has been a big part of my life and I cherish the many fond memories.
The role of Head Prefect is not one I take lightly. I strive to represent the core values of our school on a daily basis wherever I may be, at home, school or in the outside community. Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Integrity and Harmony are values that I will carry for the rest of my life.
I am grateful to all the students and teachers who have supported me.
Knowing that I have the student body’s trust and support, it reminds me that I always have to try my best at all times. I think of this every day as I put on my uniform, clip on my badge and proudly walk to school.
I believe that everyone is important and enjoys being appreciated. Through little actions, like saying ”hello and thank you” to someone, you can really make their day. As our school really emphasises Respect, it is important that we exhibit Respect, Harmony and Care in our daily life.
Becoming a Prefect is a great honour, but it is important that we live by the Prefect Oath and live to expectations by displaying the Core Values around school and other places. We will all cooperate together to ensure we have a positive environment to learn and enjoy our time at school.
We as Prefects will continue to motivate students to work hard and focus in studies and other aspects.
Once again, another thanks to all the parents, family, friends, teachers and fellow students who helped us achieve such a strong foundation for our future.
