Volleyball U16 Boys Team
Tyrus Yeo S4S and Brian Liu S4M
Through hard work and commitment, the team has successfully combatted its struggles in various areas of the sport. From the standard serve to the jump serve, each and everyone’s immaculate calculations and practice have allowed him to improve and achieve a status that is higher than that of who he was when he first arrived.
It has truly been an amazing journey with everyone, though this is not the “picture perfect ending” that we all hoped for, we recognize the fact that life is never perfect, and it’s the journey of getting there that makes it so special.
Our first training together as a team saw ourselves with 8 members, each with their undiscovered talents and skills in volleyball. We were not the reigning champions, and we did not know what to do then. As time progressed and we spent more and more time on the volleyball court, training with each other and hearing feedback from our coach, the mist and haze in front of us slowly cleared up. Our first game caught us unprepared, not knowing what to do at all, all standing there frozen and helpless. On the other hand, our last game saw each and every teammate performing their role in the team, and though it was a loss in the finals, we went out trying our best.
The whole team sacrificed their October break to come to school to train almost every day, with the same end goal in mind; to improve, skills wise and mentality wise, and ultimately hang that glorious, red banner on the side of our sports hall. Our team has never been so united.
This is it, the season has ended, we tried our best. But we are nowhere near defeated, instead, this season has proved to us that we could do it, but we are missing that last step, that last push. We have fought well, and we hope this spirit burns brightly in all sports teams in SISHK, and in all things that we do. GO LIONS!
