Three times a charm for Zubir Said

Group4 (web)

Zoe Schlossmacher and Megan Chen, Heads of House, Zubir Said

Winning sports day for the third year in a row was an extraordinary feat. Our house is definitely not the biggest house in the school, so to win and by such a wide margin serves as a testimony for our house spirit and enthusiasm. We are so proud of our house and all that we have managed to achieve together. Many of the people who ran in our house on that day were not in their best physical form but they did not give up. They persevered and even managed to get medals and break records. We really want to thank our house and let them know how proud we are of them. None of them gave up and persevered through it all. We think sports day has really shown the true colours of our house and their strong fighting spirit. Students were cheering for all levels which showed how bonded we are as a house. Our mission statement for AY18/19 was to foster friendships between levels and to create a vibrant and welcoming family for everyone in our house. We are so pleased to see that we have become much closer as a house and that we are like a family rather than something which we have to do because of our school policy. It was extremely heartwarming to see how everyone endlessly supported each other by cheering for each other or by helping to carry the injured to the resting area. Many of us even stepped up to replace sick or injured students to run in events such as the relays. We hope to see this spirit, empathy and love carry on in the coming years <3

Of course, we would like to thank the other houses as well. Without them and their competitive spirit, sports day would not have been so tense (in a good way) with all of us so eager to see the results. All the houses put on such a good fight and showed really good sportsmanship.

We would also like to thank Mr. Webber and all the student helpers and staff who helped to organise such a massive event. Without your planning over several months, sports day would not even exist and that would be a real dampener on our school’s enthusiasm. We really appreciate all that you do for the school!!!

Thank you all for a wonderful sports day and let’s go Zubir Said!!!
