There was a buzz of excitement lingering in the air. Students dressed in striped uniforms were cheering and yelling on the staircase. Others who arrived at the plaza earlier were clasping their ice creams with a grin on their faces. Can you guess what was happening?

Correct! It was our annual Ice Cream Sale! The prefects and teachers sold ice cream to students during their lunch on Wednesday,  9th October, and Thursday, 10th of October, 2019. Prefects created posters to advertise the event and presented the coming of the event at assemblies or in classrooms.

On both days of the sale, teachers and Prefects-on-duty were kept busy handing out ice creams, collecting and counting money, and helping everyone to line up. The Vanilla Ice Cream & Coke-flavoured Slush won the popularity contest with flying colours. It was sold out at the drop of a hat! However, that did not stop our enthusiastic pupils from supporting the Ice Cream Sale!

As a Prefect of SISHK, I supported the sale like the other teachers and students, as I knew that the money raised from the sales would be going to a charitable organization.

What’s more, the Prefects also learnt a lot about serving others and working together as a team. Good job, everyone! The Perfect committee and I look forward to seeing you at the next fundraiser. Stay tuned!

Students finished their lunch as fast as they could and raced upstairs to queue up for the Ice Cream Sale. Everyone was extremely excited as it was one of their favourite events of the academic year!

Before the Ice Cream Sale, the Prefects, teachers and teacher assistants did a lot of preparation work. For example, they created posters, went into classrooms to brief the students, and served the ice cream on the actual day.

This year, the Ice Cream Sale was held on the 9th-10th of October. There were three different flavours of Ice Cream – Fruitmix, Vanilla Ice Cream & Coke-flavoured Slush, and the Magic Cone Chocolate-flavoured Ice Cream.

During my duty, I realised that the Vanilla Ice Cream & Coke-flavoured Slush was very popular and it sold out very fast on just the first day! Eventually, after the second day of the fundraiser, we were sold out!

This year’s Ice Cream Sale was a great success and we raised a net profit of $7694! I am very glad that not only my schoolmates enjoyed their treats after lunch but they also helped raise money, which will soon be donated to a charitable organisation.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at next year’s Ice Cream Sale!
