AY1718 Athletic Council’s Year-End Report
by Choi Yan Lun Iris (S4R) and Shi Xin Ying Kaitlyn (S4M)
Since the last update, the Athletic Council has held a number of events such as sign-up table tennis and badminton, and interclass games such as kickball and capture the flag. In addition to traditional sports and games, we organised a schoolwide Sports Quiz regarding sports trivia with questions such as locations of the next Olympic Games or what foods are a good source of energy. This has allowed for the whole school body to participate in less vigorous activities that still enabled them to contribute to earning house points for their houses.
The highly anticipated ACxCC Teachers vs Students Football match was a huge success! The combined effort of the two councils allowed for a total of over $5000 raised, which would be used for future events. The teachers’ team contributed to the hearty atmosphere by dressing up in multi-colored onesies, amusing the audience. As a whole, this event not only achieved the aim of raising funds, but also strengthened school spirit as we all came together to watch the exhilarating match.
Throughout this academic year, the AC has grown by leaps and bounds, and has truly bonded as a family. Through hard work and strong team spirit, the Council has successfully organised many events and we hope to continue exercising and improving on these skills in the future. We feel that the Council has lived up to its mission statement of spreading sporting interest and sportsmanship through the many events planned and carried out. We continue to learn and reflect through feedback from teachers and students, who aid us to learn from our mistakes and become better leaders.
We are very grateful to have been given the opportunity to take on the role as Co-Vice Presidents and work with the AC members who are always enthusiastic and full of energy. We would like to extend a special thank you to the president, Alison Yip, the secretary, Chloe Long, and the teacher-in-charge, Mr David Cheung, for being an integral part of our journey as we continue to grow to become better leaders.
Lastly, we would like to thank all teachers and students of SISHK who have supported our events throughout the year, and we hope to see you again next year!
