Ice Cream Sale – The Prefect Committee
by Sophie Cheng, P5T
There was a buzz of excitement in the air. Students were chatting and shouts of joy could be heard. Students were clutching their ice- creams, walking away with a smile on their face. Can you guess what was happening?
Yes! It was our annual Ice-Cream Sale! The prefects sold ice-creams to the students during lunchtime on Wednesday, 11 October 2017 and Thursday, 12 October 2017. Posters, created by the prefects promoting the event, were pasted around the school and prefects actually presented the coming of the event during the school assemblies.
On the days of sale, teachers, classroom assistants and prefects were kept busy handing out ice-creams to the students after they had finished their lunch. Although I was rotated to help out on the second day, I knew it was very crowded on both days! The Nestle Frutips was a big hit and it seemed that many savoured Frutips more than the Nestle Footsie. When it was my day of duty, the Nestle Frutips was sold out! However, that did not deter the enthusiastic students from supporting the Ice-Cream Sale.
As a prefect, I supported the sale like the other students as I knew that part of the proceeds was to be set aside for donation to a charitable organisation. I purchased a different flavour each day. The Footsie ice-cream did not sell out as quickly as the the Frutips ice-cream but I realised both flavours tasted great! The prefects learnt a lot about serving the student community through this sale and I hope all the students enjoyed the ice-creams as much as I did!
We look forward to seeing you at the next sale!
