U14 Football ISSFHK 2017
by Alex Chen (S2S)
The U14 Football ISSFHK season has just ended, and it has been an astonishing season! Even though we didn’t do very well against teams such as KCCIS and HKIS, we persevered and learned a lot about teamwork, strategy and the importance of a having a positive mindset. All of these were especially important when playing defence, as when playing against skilled and fast attackers, we needed to outnumber them and not stick our foot out easily. It was important to encourage each other if we made mistakes and continue focusing on our present game, rather than being so regretful and doing worse for the team.
However, some things that we need to improve on are passing and creating space to keep possession, to save our stamina for counterattacks and defence. We should also take more shots from further away in order to put pressure on the goalkeeper and maybe get lucky enough to get a goal from rebound. Our decision-making also needs improving too, as sometimes we panic and just kick the ball randomly, which gives the opponent more possession.
It has been a great season, and as Captain, I look forward to improving in teamwork, strategy and enjoying the rest of the year in the Football CCA.
